Electro-oxidation is designed to decompose organic pollutants in water by strong oxidants generated in the electrolytic process, or to oxidize ammonia nitrogen into ammonia gas, so as to achieve the goal of COD degradation and ammonia nitrogen removal.
The electro-oxidation mechanism is complex, including the direct oxidation of hydroxyl radicals produced on the anode surface and the indirect oxidation of pollutants by the formed oxidizing substances. The selection of electrode material is very important for the efficiency of electro-oxidation, and varies with different pollutants.
